A bad day

Today was a really bad day. First, I realised that introduction to psychology entails quite a bit of memorisation, and I can easily forget whatever it was that I thought I had memorised. Then I realised that Arts Camp started yesterday, and I missed it!! But that’s not the worst. The worst came this evening when I went for Taxi 1 Elementary 6 at Alliance Française.  I was way out of my depth, and the other students knew far more than I did, and that’s after I took the placement test! For example, the “y” was covered in Elementary 2. I didn’t know about that, and they recommended me for Intermediate 1! E2 and I1 is a difference of 4 modules, equivalent to one entire year at Alliance Française. I was distressed first, then angry, and when I reached home I sent them an email asking for a full refund. What a sucky day.

End of French 1

French 1 has ended – the equivalent of one year at MOELC, completed within the span of 6 weeks. The pace is insanely fast… though I still think it odd that they teach passé composé first before imparfait.

Wednesday was the Oral test… I did mine with Xiang Feng and Cheng Si about this dialogue in a boutique. I think 3 person was better as more people to discuss generates less stress, though my performance was not exactly scintillating. After the oral test, we took some pics:

Thursday was the dernier classe pour français 1. The test was very difficult, especially the listening part. :-( No pics this time as everyone rushed out of the door. Some of us went wala wala after the class. I had a pina colada, because it was covered in the dialogue in the last lecture.

Monday herald the start of yet another module. It feels so sickening to start the whole process over again, especially so soon after the last exam. I’m so tempted to drop this module, but I wouldn’t know what to do for 6 weeks. In any case, there’s one week to decide, so blah.

The end is a new beginning – this pet cliché of optimists suddenly looms in a very pessimistic context in my mind.

French Test and Wala Wala

Yesterday’s french test was easy, which makes it all the more frustrating that I made such little silly mistakes! There was this part that asked you to give directions to un étranger to get to l’Avenue Hergé, mais I misintrepreted it as going via quatre different ways when they really want quatre verbes. So I spent my time on writing different ways, until Yannick said otherwise (luckily Gerladine asked), donc when I cancelled the other deux (I only wrote trois by then) I FORGOT that “jusqu’à” n’est pas un verbe! I used tournez, continuez (even this is suspect) and allez only. :(

Anyway, after that abominable test, we went to Holland V food centre pour notre dîner, and then to Wala Wala for a drink. I’ve passed by it before, but never went in; la rez-de-chaussée n’est pas air-con, mais le premier étage est sympa, avec air-con et un live band. I shared a drink with Jasmin, but we managed to foist it on the others. Haha, bad day with a good ending.
