Hahndorf and Beerenberg Farm

After two days of settling down and buying groceries/essentials, it’s time to explore Adelaide. Today I went to Hahndorf with Adrienne, Calvin, Wei Han, Zhuoer and Wang Zhui. Hahndorf is a German-style village, with Hahn being a German name and dorf = village in German. Took bus 864 from Currie St, and it was a one hour journey.

Hahndorf Memorial Gardens.

Hahndorf Sweet Shop.

German sausages.

Hand-made fudge.

With a cardboard German girl.

Fish and Chips for lunch. The portion was huge and I couldn’t finish all. It was quite oily too…

In front of Beerenberg Strawberry Farm.

Rows upon rows of jam made at Beerenberg farm.

Plucking a strawberry.

My first time seeing what a strawberry plant looks like.

One full basket (800g) at the end of the day. The yellow band indicates that we paid for the entrance fee, which is $3. The self-plucked strawberries cost $9/kg while the pre-plucked ones cost $7.50/kg. They charge for entrance, save on labour, and charge more for strawberries. Smart farmers, these.
