The Adelaide Fringe Festival is a collection of cultural/arts events in Adelaide. Every year, it opens with a parade down the main roads of CBD Adelaide and we were there to catch the opening night for 2010. All in all it was interesting, but after 15 min I was just waiting for the parade to end. It was crowded and rather boring. Didn’t regret going, but I probably wouldn’t go again.
Everyone waiting around before the parade.
What would a parade be without floats? Is this a giraffe or a kangaroo…
No idea what this is.
Before each float they’d show the name via a sign made up of scrabble-like tiles which is a really interesting concept.
I think this float is about renewable energy.
Besides floats, there were performers too. Many of them, in fact.
I went for the NDP 07 CR3 yesterday (the combined rehearsal was themed family day – probably for family members of the performers to attend?) It was almost like the real thing, except that there were no goodie bags (only a plastic bag with bottled water, crisps, drink, tissue, very thin plastic raincoat and bread.)
Marina Bay, a big floating stage for the performance.
There were no actual ministers present, so the MC added the word “simulated” after each announcement, and students dressed in white simulated the ministers. It was funny and lame, and no one bothered to stand up.
The helicopter hovered there while the national anthem was played. This time, everyone stood up.
The parade section. The 21 gun salute was really loud!
