Use Glass to Create an Ultra Modern Bathroom

Posted on: 29 September 2016

What's the first material that comes to mind when someone says 'modern'? Chances are, it's glass. Although it's often pictured in larger rooms or open plan areas, including glass in your bathroom can create a really clean, fresh, stylish look.

When it comes to using glass, less can be more, so you won't need to incorporate all of the ideas below to make your bathroom look great. However, if you want a really striking effect, then the combination of all of these suggestions will definitely create it. Soon you'll feel like you're stepping into a luxury spa every time you get out of the shower.

Glass splashbacks

Glass splashbacks are extremely versatile - don't think you'll be limited to just plain glass. Colored glass is a great way to inject a pop of color into your bathroom, and looks great behind sinks. Darker colors like navy, purple, and red create a luxurious, adult feel. Brighter shades like green and blue are a great way to turn the bathroom into a cheerful, welcoming place that you look forward to spending time in every morning.

For something really special, consider specially printed glass. A large shower splashback could be printed with a beautiful, complex design that will take your breath away every time you see it. Popular options include large, swirling patterns made to fit with the shape and size of the room, exotic plant designs, or even entire landscapes. The only limit is your imagination, as any image or photograph can be accurately recreated on glass.

Glass counter tops

A wonderful option for longer counter tops containing multiple sinks, glass counters are a statement piece you won't see in most bathrooms. They're easy to clean, strong and durable, and compliment ceramic or metallic sinks well. You could even purchase specially made combined sinks and countertops, with the one seamless piece of glass shaped to incorporate both, as well as taps. This is about as fancy as it gets, and shows that you've really thought about every detail of your bathroom design. In smaller bathrooms, glass countertops help create the illusion of more space, unlike solid, opaque counters.

Glass accessories

Sometimes it's the small touches that matter most. Purchasing a matching set of glass containers to hold your soap, shampoo, shower gel, and other toiletries creates a consistent look. Garishly designed half-empty shampoo bottles can really damage the look of an otherwise beautiful bathroom. Don't let all your hard work go to waste - invest in some glass containers. You could choose a color to match the rest of the glass in the room, or add subtle accents with a different shade.
